About Us

The owner, Mike Barks began his beekeeping journey as a young boy with the help of his father. Over the years his passion for beekeeping grew and after many years decided to turn it into a business. In 2016 Barks Apiaries was born. Selling honey at local markets and nucleus colonies to new beekeepers.

In 2020 we opened a small retail outlet in the small community of Minesing (just north of Barrie, Ontario) offering workshops, nucs, honey and more.

Today we continue to grow and better serve our beekeeping community locally and across Canada.

Most of our products are sourced locally to help support our local Canadian workers. We harvest our own honey from our own hives, bottle it and sell it.

Our honey comes from flowers throughout Simcoe County.
